Solutions

So I froze the cherries that Ashwyn picked. I figured that this way I can just throw them in with whatever I am going to do with the rest of the cherries when they are ripe enough to pick.

Also figured out how to save the strawberries for our consumption:

The bags are made of some fine nylon tulle I have had sitting in my stash for ages. Hence they will hopefully not rot (although the thread and drawstrings are cotton). This is one strawberry spray from the prolific plant. There are about four more on the same plant. I made two and half bags this evening. I'll finish them off tomorrow, although I also want to finish the crochet I started the other day. I want to use it as part of a Christmassy display for my workstation at work. Someone came up with the bright idea of having a Christmas nameplate decoration competition, so I have dug into my stash some more and come out with some cherry red silk organza and white fake fur. I think I'm just going to pin this up with some crochet 'snowflakes' and hope it looks cool not tacky.

I planted some purple carrots today. I hope at least a few of these make it, as I am extremely curious about how they taste (mediaeval carrots were purple). Also, after nagging Andy about not stepping on my broccoli seedlings I managed to do it myself today. At least I was bare foot and I don't think I did too much damage.

On Friday Andy took Ashwyn to a speech pathologist (the kindy teacher insisted on this when we signed him up for pre-entry next year). Apparently he has a moderate to severe language impediment. He undeerstands things but has trouble expressing himself in words. For instance, she showed him an elephant and asked him what it was and he said it was a pig. Then she asked him if it was a pig, a dinosaur or an elephant, and he said it was an elephant. So it's like he has trouble retrieving the word he wants, even though he knows what is going on. Also he has been sick today, with a stomach bug he got from Liam.

Liam was ill on Thursday, but made so little fuss about it no one knew until he remarked rather casually to me on Thursday night 'I wasn't feeling good today because I had to do lots of poos'. I asked Andy about this and he knew nothing about it.
