Oh it does. In fact it can't handle anything close to the large datasets I deal with routinely at work. It holds all objects and does all computations in RAM so you're very limited, especially in 32 bit Windows systems. If you have the latest version and a 64 bit operating system, however, you can do a bit more. There are also commercial extensions that supposedly allow you to apply it to 'big data'.
