In which the health gremlins are not done with me yet...

We went to see Sisters of Mercy last Sunday night. We have had the tickets for months, but the closer the night got the more I started getting the 'I'm getting too old for this shit' jitters. I mean - going out on a Sunday when there's work the next day and kids to get to school; loud rock music when the ears have lost their youthful resilience. But we went. And it was really, really good.

And then the next day I got really sick. As best as I can tell it seems to be a combination of irritation from overuse of the smoke machine at the concert, on top of existing hayfever inflammation and a cold that Liam had a few days before and my upper respiratory tract went a bit nuts. So here I am a week later flat on my back on the couch, stuffed full of steroids and antibiotics and feeling like I've been run over by a steamroller. Yay.

I get those jitters too. I hate them! I'm glad you went, though, and that it was awesome.

What a bummer you got sick--are you taking a bit of time off?

How are you feeling today? I hope the crud has gone away.

Boo to the health gremlins - hope you get well quickly.

I saw the Sisters in Melbourne - I dithered a bit about buying the tickets, then figured Andrew Eldritch is 60 (!!!), maybe he won't be touring forever :) (and yeah, I'm not far off a different age-ending-in-zero, maybe I won't be going out to see bands much either ;-) )

And it was good, and I survived the late Wednesday night (bit of a zombie on Thursday, don't think work noticed :D ).

Yup, they were at the Forum last Wednesday, so me & many other middle-aged goths went along :)

And I did indeed see them a few years ago ... 2012 !

... wow, that was even pre-kids (only just though, Mr-now-7 made his appearance two weeks later ... I'm amazed Lisa let me out of the house to be honest :) ).

(and also a few years before that in 2006, in Glasgow)

Hope you feel better soon

I really must pay more attention to music gigs, especially the larger acts. Too often I find out about their shows as they are winging away from Australia (although I'm probably not as ready to dash off to Melbourne to see a show as I used to be).

Oh well.

What sane person would want to go to Brisbane? Or insane person for that matter (and more to the point). <shudder>

Still, it's better than Darwin, one must admit.

["Oops!" he suddenly thinks, as he remembers which of us is a Banana-Bender in this conversation. Still, my point holds.]

I now feel justified in my refusal to leave the house at the weekend unless there's a pressing need for food
