Back to work this week, I guess I have to put my head in the door some of the time. I am taking all next week off, so this will mean I'll actually be there less than 10 days this whole month. I got in on Monday, and discovered that last week they'd posted the adverts for the next round of promotions, sooner than I'd expected. Applications are due next Thursday, which would not be much of a problem, except as noted above, I will not be at work next week.

The second half of next week is being taken off for the sake of Newcomers (ie to do shopping and precooking). The first half is because I am going to have a colonoscopy and endoscopy (not both at the same time I think, but certainly consecutively). This is on Tuesday. So I am not expecting to be doing much application writing that day. And the day after I may still be recovering from the effects of the anaesthesia (which I tend to be rather sensitive to). And I may not be up to much on Monday either, when I shall be doing preparation for the colonoscopy, and I am so looking forward to that.

To add to this, they have completely changed the selection criteria this year, so I cannot resort to my old trick of taking my old application and updating it a bit. The whole thing needs to be completely rewritten, and rethought, as the new criteria are not only new but bizarre and couched in obscure management speak. *sigh*

Of course next week is also performance review time, and I will have to do my staff when I get back, as there is no way I will fit it in this week; and one of my staff is also applying for promotion in this round, so I will have to write her a referee report too.

Some where in the middle of this I am cooking a feast, and the autocrat is not answering my emails. And everything is taking twice as long because I am still hobbling everywhere.

So here I am writing LJ entires, not applications, for which my excuse is, I am brain dead tired and not really up to facing those selection criteria right now.

The medical tests, BTW, are because the last few years I seem to have had trouble keeping any iron at all in my body unless I am swigging down handfuls of heavy duty iron tablets. This is why I am brain-dead tired, and sick all the time (children aside). Current bets are on coeliac disease, but hopefully the answer will be not too far off...
