It's not paranoia...
Dec. 17th, 2011 09:54 pm...if the universe really is out to get you.
We're flying to Queensland for two weeks on Monday as I may have mentioned once or twice. So as you'd imagine, I have quite a lot of washing to do before then. And of course it is raining, raining, raining with a forecast of more rain and thunderstorms. It galls me to run the dryer when it's 29 outside.
And of course now the plums choose to begin ripening. I picked a handful and put them in the freezer, but most of them are going to be ripe enough to pick some time over the next couple of weeks, and the cherry eating parrots are going to have a feast, I think.
At least the rain has given the garden a good soaking that might tide it over until we get back. I am a bit worried about the tomatoes, but given we are supposed to be in another La Nina I am hoping there won't be too many scorchers while we're away.
Some things I've been reading lately...
Omnitopia Dawn by Diane Duane: I was distinctly disappointed in this. I've been a long time fan of her Young Wizards series, which is brilliant. But this, I really had to struggle to keep reading until the end. It's hard to put my finger on why, because the premise seemed interesting enough.
The Castings trilogy by Pamela Freeman. Okay, well I've only read the first one, but I'm definitely planning on reading the rest. An interesting world, with a nice twist on magic, and engaging characters.
And it seems Erin has a crush on William T. Riker. Really, there are no words...
