I didn't realise I hadn't been online for so long until the mail started piling into my inbox. Nothing particularly exciting is happening at the moment, which I suppose is a pleasant change. Back to life as usual for a bit.

We had Erin's parent-teacher conference on Tues. Erin has a reading age of 10 (not bad for a seven year old), but has trouble with paying attention and completing work.

I have spent most of the week at work catching up on what I've missed in the last month (final count of attendance for March = 8 days), and writing performance reviews. And waiting to hear if I have been shortlisted for an interview for the promotion round. We are having a few budgetary issues at the ABS atm, and the latest executive idea for dealing with this is to cut middle management positions. Since this includes the level I am applying for, it would not surprise me if the whole thing was suddenly canceled. On the other hand, if I don't get in now, I may not have another chance for a while. People are worried, some more than others. Tomorrow I get to hear how this is supposed to affect my division, and therefore whether or not I should be worried.

*Pah* I say to George Brandis (watching Q&A - that is, I am - he is on it). *Pah*

The *Pah*s arising largely because I am currently reading a book about human rights and the law by Julian Burnside.
