So I got up this morning feeling rather snuffly and sore throaty and thought 'perhaps I'll stay in bed today'. Then I pulled a muscle in my shoulder/back sitting on the loo (go figure - I suspect I overdid something in yoga last night and only noticed then). Then Ashwyn woke up and I went in to get him up and thought 'there's a funny smell in here'. You will note a few days ago I said he had a cold. He often gets the runs when he has a cold (its not uncommon in small children). He also usually drinks at least half a litre of milk before he goes to sleep, and wakes up with a very full nappy. I shall not go into gruesome detail, but I expect you're beginning to get the picture.
I started to clean him up, and realised that what he really needed was a bath. So I hauled him into the bathroom, and while I was running the bath he widdled all over the bathroom floor. Meanwhile Liam was yelling because I'd woken him up and left the light on in his room (he was shouting that I should turn the light off because it was wasting power!). At this point I thought 'perhaps I will go to work today'. It's a sad indictment of one's morning when a two hour forward work planning meeting suddenly becomes an attractive prospect.
