Yesterday, another busy day. I had to go down to the Baronial Council meeting to pick up the dosh with which I will shortly be buying the Central Markets out of coriander. So Andy took the kids to the park, and I acquired dosh, and then, since we were quite close to Andy's brother's house we went to visit him and inflicted our children on his bachelor pad. Ashwyn had a high old time fiddling with all the stuff. Then we came home, gave the kids an early tea, bathed them and went out ourselves. We had, astonishingly enough, managed to persuade Andy's mum to babysit the kids while we went out to dinner. This on account of it being our anniversary. Believe it or not we have been married for twelve years. Twelve! Where does the time go?

It would have been longer than twelve, except we got engaged while I was doing honours and that rather interfered with matters, and then we discovered that it is not possible to organise a wedding in two months (unless we eloped and then our mothers would never have spoken to us again).

Today I got to work and discovered that my PC had died. Well not quite. It was stuck in a reboot loop. The old turning it off and on again trick did diddly squat so I had to wait for the IT guys to come and take it away. In it's place I got another one with 'hot spare' written in bright yellow on the side. One wonders whether there is a cold spare...

Anyway, while I was waiting for this to happen, I thought 'I need to cash a cheque the SCA gave me for this feast so I'll just nip downstairs and do it now'. But apparently it was completely impossible for me to cash the cheque. Firstly it seems that the ANZ has a policy that they only cash cheques of $500+ at the branches where the signature cards are held. And the teller said I needed a driver's licence. I don't have a driver's licence. I'm unlikely to get one before Wednesday when I really need this money.

So I rang the ANZ, and it turns out I do not need a driver's licence, but my passports are no good because they expired more than two years go (really should renew those). My birth certificate will do, and a notice of assessment from the ATO. And some kind of photo ID. I have a birth certificate, but since I now go by my married name, I suspect I will need my marriage certificate, which is somewhat lost. I do have a recent notice of assessment from the ATO having only very recently submitted my tax return. The only photo ID I have is my security pass from work, which may pass muster if the teller I show it to realises that the Australian Bureau of Statistics is a Commonwealth Government department (well strictly speaking we're not).

So the question is: do I really exist, and if so, how does anyone know who I am?
