Everyone still sick....
May. 22nd, 2010 10:51 pmAndy is sick now too, and Ashwyn is producing rivers of snot. Erin and Liam have coughs. Since I am now going back to Canberra in just over a week (to talk to some Mongolians) I hope that this is the same thing I had when I was there last and I don't get it again.
Today, despite sick Andies and rivers of snot we went trawling all over the place looking at phones. I had the impression that I could buy any phone and stick in the sim card they transferred my account to, and be up and running. Apparently this is not so. If the phone is not supported by your provider then you may not be able to use all the features on it. So, while I was hoping this was an opportunity to upgrade to a touchscreen phone, the lower end models I am interested in are not available on my provider and the higher end ones are a bit out of my league at the moment. I like Sony Ericsson phones, and the Xperia X1 and Vivaz both look very cool (though have somewhat mixed reviews). The reason I want a touchscreen is because ultimately I want something that covers the functions of both a phone/walkman and my clunky old Palm, which has handwriting recognition (dodgy, old handwriting recognition). But for now I think I will just get an Elm, which has a few more functions than my old phone, and is supposedly more environmentally friendly. Maybe by the time my contract runs out there will be an environmentally friendly smartphone available.
