This is getting ridiculous...

The tonsillitis is back. I have been taking a broad spectrum antibiotic to combat an underlying sinus infection that was lingering after the last bout of tonsillitis and that seems to have lessened the impact of this one a bit, but it's back to the penicillin for me now. Still this may not be entirely a bad sign. Apparently, bacteria also need iron, for pretty much the same reason we do. Mild iron deficiency can be one of the body's defence mechanisms against infection. But if you're seriously iron deficient, and you begin to supplement, you have a dodgy immune system plus a lot of free iron suddenly floating around in your system which equals bacterial heaven. So in other words, getting sick may actually be a sign that my iron levels are starting to go up again.

I also forgot to mention that we went to see Waiting for Godot with Ian McKellan on the weekend.  I am not a particular fan of Beckett - Andy is and this was his birthday present from my family - but this was a very good production, very funny.

Ashwyn actually consented to sit on the potty the other day, in gracious recognition of a bribe of two jelly babies. But has refused to repeat the performance since. Although just lately he has been complaining about wearing a nappy (the trouble is, if he takes it off, he just widdles on the floor), so maybe he is getting to the stage where he will be more willing to consider toilet training.
