Back and sick
Aug. 30th, 2011 08:57 pmWe had a good trip to the Millicent, if for a rather sad reason. Andy's family (who are fairly spread all over the place, rather like mine) aren't often all together so it was nice to catch up. Unfortunately Ashwyn had a cold and, like the plague monkey he is, managed to give it to most of the rest of us.
The Southeast was green and windy, which is pretty much the way it always is. They have put up a bunch of wind turbines just outside Millicent, which seems like a sensible place for them, as it is always blowing a gale there. The wind comes straight from Antartica it sometimes feels like. We went for a bit of a drive past them, and the things I found most notable were: they look a lot more elegant when scattered randomly through the hills (there was a large array of them a bit further out of town and it looked a lot more industrial); at the distance most people are from them they sound like the sea; they are actually quite noisy when you are right underneath them, but something equivalent to traffic on a nearby busy road (ie not much to trouble a city person, but probably quite noticeably to a country person).
