l have been pretty slack about writing here lately. There have been lots of things contributing to that. Mostly it's that I prefer to post from my laptop, but it's currently found a home in the back room, which tends to be kid territory in the evenings, so l don't find myself sitting down at it very often. Also, it seems like every time I get the urge to post, we get our internet shaped. Anyway, l am trying to make more use of the LJ app, and maybe I'll post more on my phone. Probably I should consider moving my laptop anyway, because I'm not doing a lot of writing at the moment either.

Anyway, so what's been going on in the mumble mumble since I last posted?

We passed our first anniversary in the new house. l guess that makes it not so much of a new house anymore, but it's got a way to go before it gets clone to the time we spent in the old house . We now have some understanding of how it behaves through the whole turning of the seasons. We have discovered some of its quirks, and we're mostly begun to remember which switches turn on which lights (one of the quirks being that this house is massively over-electrically - engineered).

The boys had birthdays in February. I decided to make Ashwyn a Mine craft cake. That would be pretty easy,) thought. It would just be blocks after all. It wasn't quite as simple as that of course, but let's see if I can get a piccy of the final result in here.

Liam decided he wanted to look through the cake books and choose something more 'normal'. He picked a French chocolate cake. This was basically a baked chocolate custard. Very nice, very rich.

Mostly, things have been pretty quiet. l have been sewing a bit. I am working on a 1480's middle class-ish gown, and l am taking pics as I go along, with the idea of posting a dress diary at some point. I've also been doing a bit of crochet, and still playing quite a lot of Skyrim. Work has also been pretty quiet, apart from the week where they nearly gave me my boss' job (long story).

The garden has been pretty quiescent, as gardens often are around here over summer. Andy has taken it into his head to put some raised beds in over the back lawn, which has never really recovered from the period the house was empty last summer. He's done one so far and there are now some little spinach and carrot seedlings coming up in it.

Which brings us to this week. I have done something to my knee to cause it to swell up and turn green (as in old bruise type green). The trouble is, I can't remember actually doing anything to it. And now I seem to have chipped a tooth biting a piece of metal in a Latina lasagne. Thanks for that Latina! Looks like it will be the dentist for me on Monday.
