Depressed now...

I think I've had my head stuck in the sand about this whole change of government thing. I've been remarkably blasé about it up until now, given how horrified I was at the prospect of a certain person getting in last election. Today it's occurred to me that I've been in denial, somehow hoping that he would have a last minute change of heart about all the horrible things he was planning to do, or that some other obstacles would fling themselves into his path. The sacking of three senior public servants today, and the resignation of a fourth (the head of AusAID has resigned in protest at his agency being absorbed into DFAT) has been rather like a shock of cold water.
And then on top of that I came home to a letter from my doctor with some rather gloomy results from my latest blood tests. The iron is right down again, despite my thinking we'd gotten on top of that now, and also my thyroid levels are dropping. Stay tuned for more tweaking of the biochemistry in the near future.
This has cheered me up somewhat though - this is the best thing I've seen in ages: Acapella Science

Date: 2013-09-19 03:35 am (UTC)Personally I trust and love our new democratically elected government leaders. They are most excellent leaders, paragons of virtue, and their economic and social plans herald a new era of plenty for us all. I look forward to becoming a productive member of society, church and community, and enduring the halcyon era of warm summer days that his government shall gift to us. I realise now that a faster Internet would mean that I would waste more of my day commenting on inappropriate fora, especially those that are critical of government policy.
I would like to take this opportunity to hereby retract all slanderous comments I made against the current democratic government of Australia and the Right Honourable Prime Minister Tony Abbott, Historic Liberator and Current Shepherd of Australia, whilst he languished in Opposition. Truly I was under the malign dominion of socialist Greens mind control. In not understanding the True Liberal Way I committed heinous crimes against my fellow Australians and against your democratically elected government. I deeply regret the pain and suffering that I caused the innocent, and I beg my compatriots to accept me back into the Righteous Society, reformed and ready to undo the Evil I inadvertently have supported.
[DSD still monitors these things, don't they?]
PS: One understands you are not whipping your minion enough. This needs to change.

[Second only to informing the crew of the galley "The good news is you get a long lunch break today. The bad news is after lunch the captain wants to water ski."]
[Or maybe my old favourite: "Come early and beat the crowd."]
