I aten't dead

The end of last year turned frantically busy, mostly on the work front, and I had every intention of dropping in and complaining about it, or talking about the Christmas and New Year holiday, but here we are.
We did have a lovely holiday in Queensland, mostly just lounging around the pool, although I hauled my backside out of bed at 5:30am to go canoeing with my dad a couple of times. He was regaling me all year with tales of the dolphins and turtles and so, but we had zero visitations from wildlife. We also had another go at visiting the aircraft museum and they were actually open, which made Andy happy.
Erin was offered a place studying psychology at Flinders, which she has deferred for a year, apparently so she can lounge around the house watching anime. We are making her do lots of housework instead.
School has been back for a couple of weeks now, and the boys are settling into their new classes. It's crazy birthday week next week, so we shall be awash in cake.
My dad was nearly admitted to hospital yesterday, under suspicion of having some terrible tropical disease, but he tested negative to most of the more obvious ones, so they pumped him full of antibiotics and sent him home. Hopefully he's on the mend.
And that's about all the news for now.

Date: 2019-02-16 04:01 am (UTC)Wooo, that's a looooong trip. Even when I was travelling from the city to Flinders, it was a hell trip. Though Hallett Cove to Flinders was the worst, because it was a train from Hallett Cove station to Brighton, then the connector bus, which depending on what one it was, either took you to Marion shops only or Flinders Medical only, or Flinders Uni itself. If it only went to Marion, then onto another bus to uni or the hospital, if to the hospital, then onto the uni's own little loop bus which went allllll around the uni before ending up at the actual bus stop bit. The whole ridiculous process from HC to uni could take me over an hour, depending on the day and time. From the city, it was around 45 minutes.

Date: 2019-02-23 07:49 am (UTC)They had sheep, not produce, unfortunately, but as far as I know they're still there. They were on the far edge of the developed area where the hills were getting too steep for large scale development. The driveway was the stuff of nightmares :-D
And yes, that sounds like a plan. See you then. I hope the weather has settled down a bit by then. They are forecasting super hot all week :-(
