I got up this morning and Liam was watching Dr Who on the tellie, Erin was watching Dr Who (a different episode) on Andy's computer, Andy was using the netbook, and Ashwyn was using the kid's computer. 'What a bunch of screen junkies we are' I thought, and so I went outside to prune the wisteria. I like wisteria, not least because it is purple, but whoever planted the one in our garden needs their head examined. Instead of being put in a position where it can climb all lovely and gracefully drooping over something, it is just stuck in a lump in the middle of the lawn. Which means every winter I have to prune it back to a little stick so it doesn't take over the place come spring.
Anyway, having done the wisteria, and feeling industrious I thought I'd have a go at the plum tree too. Whereupon I stepped in the mysterious rabbit-hole like hole in our back lawn with my dodgy ankle. Then I hobbled inside and spent the rest of the afternoon sitting on the couch. I don't think I've done any serious damage - it was just a little owie and there is no swelling or anything - but I don't think it helped much either, and I suspect I've taken the frustratingly slow healing process back a couple of weeks. Bummer.
Less of a bummer is that the feast menu fits inside my budget and has gotten the thumbs up from Collette, so it looks like it is full steam ahead for October. It is going to be a damn fine feast. With a fountain.
Reading the Dark Heavens series by Kylie Chan at the moment. The first one was pretty good, to judge by the way I had to sit up to nearly 1am finishing it last night, but the second is not grabbing me in quite the same way. Also reading an interesting book called The Geography of Time about individual and cultural differences in the way we view time.
