Crazy fruit
Dec. 9th, 2009 09:00 pmYesterday I picked cherries in the rain at 7am. More specifically, I got up, looked out the back door and thought ‘I’m sure there are less cherries on that tree than there used to be’. Which generally means the birds are starting to eat them. Which generally means they are ripe enough to pick. Or at least, need to be picked before the birds eat them all. This year there are not much more than a handful but they are enormous. I took a picture of them just last weekend.
Normally the cherries do not ripen until January, but that spell of really hot weather has accelerated things I think.
I also took a picture of some of the grapes. The grape vines are the heroes of the garden this year. They have just gone mad. If the downy mildew stays away we will be swimming in grapes next month.
And finally, a slightly blurry mutant strawberry:
And finally I think the iron deficiency is back. The last week or so I feel like I have been dragging myself around half asleep all the time.
