I think I mentioned a little while ago something about experimenting with large hook crochet (it’s late, I can’t be bothered looking up the entry, and it was just a mention). I taught myself to crochet when I was a student, but I’ve always had trouble committing to large crochet projects (especially now when the time/hobbies ratio is even more out of skew). I have two or three on the go, most of which have been on the go for quite a long time now. The only things I can be certain to finish are small things like gloves and bags.
Anyway, so the idea of large hook crochet is you can cover more ground with the same number of stitches ie you can produce stuff much more quickly. It works pretty well. Some photos below the cut.
