A brief recap of our holiday
Oct. 1st, 2012 10:56 amWe had quite a nice time at Victor Harbor, although we crammed a lot of stuff into our time there. I think we even managed to wear out the kids (ourselves goes without saying of course). We rented a little house that was not quite right on the beach, but pretty close:
(the view from the upstairs balcony – yes that kind of blue thing in between the trees is the sea)
Also it was just across the road from a park, so it was pretty conveniently located.
The house came fully furnished and also supplied with a stack of board games which the kids immediately opened and spread across the floor:
It also had this boat:
I’m pleased to report we didn’t break it.
Tuesday was the biggest day. We walked across to Granite Island and then all round the island. It was warmer than we expected and the kids were all moaning about how tired they were and then Liam fell off Umbrella Rock and scraped his leg, but an ice-cream and a ride back on the tram transformed it into a marvellous experience.
Then we sat on the grass by the seafront and ate chips for lunch (which Ashwyn also thought was awesome) and went to Greenhills Adventure Park in the afternoon. We had a good time there too, although on reflection we could probably have spent the whole day there as we didn’t get to half the different activities they have there. Liam loved the paddle boats and I spent a lot of time paddling him around the lake. Both Andy and I got slight sunburns (I hadn’t expected it to be very warm, so I brought lots of jumpers but not much in the way of hats or sunscreen), but the kids escaped unscathed. How Liam, with his red-head’s skin didn’t turn crispy I don’t know.
I completely failed to take any pictures that day, but I did take this one at dinner on Monday night, in which Andy has managed to make his face into a rather amusing blur:
