I forgot to mention yesterday about the blackberries. Someone offered me a couple of kilos of frozen blackberries, which I accepted, because Andy and Liam like blackberries (I don't like the pips myself). So I asked them to bring them to Newcomers, and stuck them in the freezer at the hall. Now I did actually remember to take them home.  I completely forgot to put them in the freezer. So I got up on Sunday morning to find a heap of mushy purple things on the kitchen bench. Now they are sitting in the fridge. I will have to do something with them tomorrow probably (I should be doing something with them tonight but I can't be stuffed). So, off to look up recipes for blackberry jam....

Fruit leather? http://www.cookingcache.com/appetizr/fruitleather.shtml?rdid=rc1 you can do it with blackberries (as I've eaten it!) and it keeps for ages, makes for good snackfood too.

Fruit leather sounds good. I'll keep it in mind for next summer, as we have a lot of fruit trees, and I bet the kids would scoff it like mad. Unfortunately the blackberries had to be discarded, as I left it too long before doing anything with them. After a feast I find I just tend to want to veg out for a while. Cooking especially is not hugely attractive.

Sorry to hear about the stuff with your dad BTW. He seemed like a nice guy the once or twice I met him.

I used to scoff the leather like it was going out of fashion when I was a kid. It was a candy staple in our house. One of my BFFs mum's used to make it all the time and we'd eat it faster than she could dry it out!

Yeah, it's getting real now. The things I have learned from my siblings in the last few days have shocked and saddened me. I was very lucky to be sheltered from so much as mum wasn't a pushover with dad. Didn't mean I didn't get some shit, but nowhere near as much as my siblings.
