I spent Sunday and Monday in bed with something that approximated the 'flu. But Tuesday was good. I really liked the Star Trek movie quite a lot. It hit the mark on a lot of levels. I would be quite happy to see more of those if they can keep the same ambience. The guy playing Kirk was so eerily like William Shatner at times it was quite astonishing. And my hasty last minute present for Andy (being hasty and last minute on account of previous two days in bed) hit the mark, so that was pleasing too.

I have agreed to do a feast in October. This is to be a Royal Feast, and apparently these Royals are sixteenth century, so I will be able to put to use some of the research I did for the ball which never happened (and would, in fact have been tomorrow if it did). Plenty of time to think about it anyway.

Still no news on the promotion, although there's a document at work about future staffing projections that suggests they will be making an external appointment from this round. Doesn't look good.

Also today I was talking to a woman at work who did basically the same thing to her ankle at the same time as me (although she did it by being hit by a 4WD whilst on her bicycle - rather more dramatic than me!). We have been sore ankle buddies. She has just been told by her doctor that she may only ever regain 75% strength in the ankle and that she should strap it before playing netball or basketball or similar as there is a high risk of reinjuring it doing those sorts of things. Which did not fill me with confidence. Even though I have no intention of playing netball or basketball or those sorts of things. I have been experimenting with high heels lately, with mixed results. I finally got to wear my Mother's Day boots, but my ankle was rather stiff and sore the next day. These were the 'comfortable' boots - I lasted about two minutes in the others. The walking in high heels action (or putting my foot in the en pointe position) doesn't hurt, but it just doesn't seem to be working, so I have to bend my knee instead. I have the same problem doing triangle pose. This seems strange, because the ankle injury was in the side-to-side sort of motion, and while that range is still also a bit restricted (and at times a little bit sore), it seems like nowhere near as much of a problem (maybe just because I use it less). Anyway, next time I am at the doctor's to get my iron checked (supposed to be soonish) I might ask them about the ankle too.

Anyway, I am going to post this now before my internet connection drops out and I lose it.
